The Gübelin Academy shares Gübelin’s knowledge of gemmology and its passion for gems with the entire world. Now Gübelin is also offering its Coloured Gem Professional programme together with a partner in China. Thanks to this co-operation, these unique courses can be offered on a regular basis in China.

Since 2013, the family-owned House of Gübelin has shared both practical knowledge as well as the emotional aspects of coloured gems through its Academy. The Academy’s modular programmes offer gem aficionados a fast-track introduction into the world of precious gems and deepen the knowledge of connoisseurs and experts. Now Gübelin is conducting its courses in Shanghai, China, together with a local partner. These Gübelin Academy courses are the first of their kind to be offered in China.

The Gübelin Academy was founded in Hong Kong in 2013 and began offering courses in Switzerland in 2014. The courses in Shanghai are presented jointly with its partner CGG, a jewellery firm that represents numerous European jewellery brands, and are conducted either in Mandarin or bilingually, in both English and Mandarin. This means that courses are currently held in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, depending on the location. They are addressed to specialists and jewellers as well as to a broader audience. The first courses launched in Shanghai were held in the historical building that once housed the British consulate, one of the oldest buildings in the Bund district, constructed in 1873. Future classes will be continued in a central permanent location in the Bund.
