The Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) has partnered with public and private sectors to organize the inaugural Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair 2017 with the aim of establishing Thailand as the world’s hub for gems and jewelry manufacturing and trading. Representatives from AEC+6 industry associations, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Tourist Police have showed their continuing support for the gems and jewelry industry at the fair which is to be held from June 15 to 18, 2017 at the IMPACT Challenger 2, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand.


The Fair of New Opportunities

Held under the theme of ‘Treasure Road to the World’, the Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair 2017 (TGJF) features over 1,000 booths from domestic and international exhibitors, as well as numerous activities from MOU signings, seminars and fashion shows to special exhibitions.

Chairing the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister General Tanasak Patimapragorn voiced the government’s support for Thailand’s gems and jewelry industry, which is considered one of the country’s top three industries with export value totalling over US$14 billion in 2016.

TGJTA President Mr Suttipong Damrongsakul expressed his gratitude for all parties involved in the organization of the Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair 2017.

“I would like to thank presidents from AEC+6 industry associations, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Tourist Police and all partners for their great support for the fair and for promoting this important industry,” said Mr Suttipong.

“Today, the TGJTA is proud to unveil the first-ever mid-year international gems and jewelry fair in Thailand,” he added. “Held over an area of 20,000sqm, the fair is where gems and jewelry associations from different countries, especially AEC+6 countries, will find a platform to build their network and seek new clients and partners.”


A Trans-Regional Effort

TGJF 2017 showcases exhibitors from 11 countries. Representatives from the gems and jewelry associations of China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia, Italy, India, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Sri Lanka participated in business talks and trading activities at the fair, reinforcing Thailand’s strength as a gems and jewelry hub in the region.


A Jewelry Shopping Paradise

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has also designated the Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair 2017 as part of Thailand Shopping & Dining Paradise 2017 in which the TGJTA has combined with many partners from credit cards, airlines, department stores, the Thai Hotel Association and the Thai Restaurant Association, to organize special shopping promotions for those participating at TGJF 2017.


Networking Activities and Seminars

During TGJF 2017 visitors will get a chance to participate in seminars, exhibitions and fashion shows arranged in cooperation with the TGJTA’s partners.

A very special guest speaker, Mr. Alessio Boschi, will be giving a talk on ‘Mastering the Art of Thai Jewelry Crafting…Designing the Opportunity in Global Markets’ on June 16 from 10.30 to 12.00, in which he will share his vast experience in jewelry design. Those interested in colour stones can take part in the seminar on ‘Quality Standards of Rubies and Sapphires’ held by the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT). Attendees can also catch up with the latest industry trends at Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin’s talk on ‘Trends in Thai Jewelry Designs in the Creative Industry towards Thailand 4.0’, which will also feature a special fashion show by university students.
