The International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2019 achieved its target by generating an income of over 100 million baht for Chanthaburi's economy while Thai and foreign exhibitors showed interest in booth reservation for next year's event.

Deputy Minister of Commerce, Mr. Weerasak Wangsuphakijkosol revealed that the International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2019 held from December 4 to 8, 2019 was an overwhelming success as the event generated an income of over 100 million baht from trade and tourism activities during the five-day event, which helped boost the local economy. The festival was the first international gem and jewelry trade fair to be organized in Chanthaburi province and was jointly held by the public and private sectors.

Furthermore, the first-ever auction for polished gemstones in Thailand attracted a large number of collectors and gemstones traders from across the world. Polished gemstones worth 150 million baht in total (USD 5 million) were auctioned. The activity also played a crucial role in supporting Thailand as a trade center of colored gemstones.

Mrs. Duangkamol Jiambutr, director of the GIT said that the success of the first International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2019 was greater than expectation as it attracted nearly 10,000 visitors including gems and jewelry entrepreneurs and tourists from China, Japan and European countries. Moreover, the festival generated significantly higher income for the trade and tourism sectors in the province.

"Most importantly, many Thai and international exhibitors expressed their interest in reserving booths for next year's fair, demonstrating that the fair successfully achieved its target," Mrs. Jiambutr added.

The International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2019 was organized at three locations: Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Center, KP Jewelry Center, and the OTOP Lifestyle Shop at Gems Market. The event provided a stage for gems and jewelry entrepreneurs in Chanthaburi to showcase their quality gems and jewelry products to consumers, who were offered a chance to purchase good quality products at factory prices, while all products have also been certified by GIT's Buy With Confidence Program.
