The International Diamond Manufacturers Association ( IDMA) and the organizers and hosts of the 21st Presidents’ Meeting, the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), a DMCC platform, will be staging a roadshow of current diamond identification and detection technology during the meeting that takes place September 23-25. The Presidents’ Meeting is the biennial meeting of the leadership of two sister organizations, the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and IDMA.

During the roadshow, which is supported by the Diamond Producers Association (DPA), delegates and participants will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the identification and detection equipment and tools for lab-grown diamonds.

“The diamond industry and trade’s main concern about synthetic or lab-grown diamonds is their detection and identification," says IDMA Secretary General Matthew Schamroth. The topic is on the agenda of both IDMA and the WFDB, and the various aspects of the challenges posed by LGDs will be discussed in detail in Dubai.

“Since the leadership of almost all the diamond manufacturing and trading centers will be gathering for the Presidents’ Meeting in Dubai, later this month, we reached out to companies and organizations to come and present their services, and demonstrate their equipment to the Meeting’s participants,” he added.

“The imperative goal of our industry is to promote the positive attributes of natural diamonds to consumers, while proactively educating ourselves about synthetics. We must all be vigilant in this effort. The showcase of screening and detection technologies in Dubai will be an important step in the right direction,” Schamroth stated.

“This is a great opportunity for manufacturers and distributors of diamond detection, screening and identification equipment and tools to showcase their abilities,” said Maryam Al Hashemi, Director of Precious Metals & Stones, DMCC. “Even more so because on the day following the Presidents’ Meeting, on September 26, around 300 industry leaders and decision makers will participate in the Dubai Diamond Conference in Almas Tower.”

Schamroth and Al Hashemi said that they look forward to welcoming additional companies and organizations that can enhance the roadshow with their presence and equipment.
