Chairman - Surat Diamond Bourse [SDB]
Surat Diamond Bourse the largest office complex and diamond center in the world has recently been witnessing turbulent times especially after the mega launch of SDB by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. SDB was helmed by Vallabhbhai Lakahni, Founder Kiran Gems who was instrumental in making SDB a reality with the support of Large Diamond Manufacturing companies such as SRK Exports, Hari Krishna Exports, Dharmanandan, Venus Jewels etc. SDB was born to bring in the entire diamond manufacturing fraternity under one roof and was decided to move in companies from other centers in India into Surat. Prime Ministers inauguration of Surat International airoport to give easy access to International markets was an important move to make Surat an International Diamond destination. Apparently there has not been any significant decision that has been taken by the fraternity on moving to Surat from other diamond centers in India.
On the wake of recent developments Vallabhai resigned from the position of Chairman SDB and Govindbhai Dholakia, Founder Chairman SRK Exports has been appointed Chairman of Surat Diamond Bourse. A respectable personality among the diamond Industry members, philanthropist and educationist, Govindbhai has been nominated to the Rajyasabha recently. His influence in the community, and industry can turn the tide in bringing in a new dawn to SDB.
